Bengaluru man releases dashcam video of ‘planned attack’ by biker

The entire incident was recorded by a dashboard camera installed in the car

In a horrific incident in Bengaluru, a motorcyclist attacked a car in broad daylight, allegedly after failing to overtake the vehicle. The incident, which was recorded by a dashboard camera installed on the car, took place on VIBGYOR High School Road at around 11:40 am on Saturday. Deepak Jain, a marketing professional by profession, narrated the entire incident on X and shared the footage of the attack which left him traumatized.

“Today I was the victim of a horrific and unprovoked attack. Even after about 9 hours I am still in shock. This seems to have been a planned attack,” he wrote in a thread on X.

Dashcam video showed the biker on an Ola scooter overtaking the car, an action that did not arouse suspicion. But soon after, the scooter rider started chasing Mr Jain’s car, shouting, honking and asking him to stop. He then blocked Mr Jain’s path and parked his vehicle in front of his car.

In a fit of rage, he picked up a soft coconut shell from the road and used it to smash the right window of his car, forcing Mr Jain to open it. He then broke the right side rear view mirror while continuing to shout aggressively. The situation escalated further when another car about 300 metres ahead of him tried to block Mr Jain’s path.

“Given the driver’s suspicious behaviour, I suspect they might be part of the same gang. I am still processing this traumatic event. Had I opened the door or window, I could have lost my life due to his aggression. Fortunately, I had installed a dashcam and recorded the entire incident,” Mr Jain wrote.

Netizens expressed their dismay over the incident and urged him to report it to the police immediately. One user said, “This is scary. I’m glad you are safe Deepak. You must report this to the police. Was the tantrum because he couldn’t overtake you or something like that?”

Another commented: “This is shocking. Glad to hear everyone is safe and having a dashcam in the car is a smart decision. I’ve heard of this scam before and the police need to make sure these people don’t do it again.”

A third wrote: “I’m so glad you got away unhurt and only your car was damaged. Looks like the work of an experienced gang. Thank God you didn’t open the window. They might have beaten you up and taken everything.”
