Star of “Dead Boy Detectives” talks about the Sandman’s shared universe

The Dead Detectives has arrived on Netflix and links directly to The Sandman with several characters making cameo appearances. Having said that, The Dead Detectives is also a series that wants to stand on its own.

In a recent interview with CBR’s Kevin Polowy, series star George Rexstrew, who plays Edwin Payne, comments on the show’s connections to The Sandman. While The Dead Detectives has not received a renewal order at this time, that could possibly happen, and there is also a second season of The Sandman on the way. Rexstrew was asked how much the two shows will ultimately align, and the actor noted that the shared universe is clear, although both The Sandman And The Dead Detectives can continue to coexist as separate entities.

“I think that’s a question for our showrunner, because he’s the man who puts pen to paper, but I would say they are definitely a shared universesaid Rexstrew. “The great thing is that we have a common connection. But the shows also feel different in a really exciting way. I think the pace of a television series is set by its protagonist. Jayden (Revri) and I don’t have the energy of Morpheus, who is Dream in The Sandman. So you come see our show and you’re in for a totally crazy, wild ride. I find it really funny that these two can coexist.”
