Las Cruces man accused of sexually abusing a child will not stay behind bars

LAS CRUCES, NM (KRQE) – A Las Cruces man accused of having sexual contact with a 4-year-old on the day he co-owned a property was in custody Tuesday night. Juan Cardiel, 78, was arrested last week on four counts of sexual contact with a minor in four separate incidents involving a four-year-old who attended the daycare.

Cardiel’s release conditions stipulate that he cannot have contact with anyone under the age of 18, including his grandchildren. Las Cruces Police say if there are additional victims or anyone had contact with Cardiel, please call 575-526-0795.
