Man arrested after accident with injuries in Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A man was arrested Sunday in connection with an early Sunday morning crash in Walnut Creek that left two people hospitalized, police said.

At around 5:15 a.m., police received a call reporting a crash between a car and a pedestrian in the area of ​​Locust Street near Cole Avenue, near the Farmers Market. Officers found two people who had been struck by an SUV and suffered serious injuries, according to police.

The two people were taken to hospital where they are in critical condition, police said.

An officer found a vehicle believed to be involved in the accident and the driver was arrested, police said.

The regular Sunday Farmers Market on Locust Street has been closed for the day while police continue to investigate the incident. More information will be released as the investigation progresses, police said.
