Man in Karachi sentenced to seven years in prison for raping boy – Pakistan

KARACHI: A court has sentenced a man to seven years in prison for raping a minor boy.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (West) Irshad Hussain found Muhammad Atif guilty of subjecting the victim to sexual assault within the jurisdiction of Madina Colony police station in 2022.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 100,000. Failure to comply will result in the convict having to serve an additional six months’ imprisonment.

The court also cancelled the convict’s bail and directed the police to take him into custody and send him to Karachi Central Jail to serve his sentence.

The court found that the convicted person was not entitled to mitigation due to the nature of the crime.

“I am of the view that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt as I have found evidence and related material showing that the victim was subjected to the act of sodomy punishable under Section 377 of the PPC,” the court ruled.

The court also declared a co-defendant a suspect and ordered that his case be reopened after his arrest.

According to the prosecution, a 12-year-old minor boy had gone outside to play with his friends but did not return. His father, the complainant, initiated a search and the boy was found near Haqqani compound in Baldia Town. The survivor reported to his father that three persons took him to a compound and raped him there.

After registering the case, the police arrested Atif and conducted a medical examination.
