Woman allegedly raped and murdered at home in Darwin by man in breach of domestic violence order

A woman was allegedly raped and murdered in a Northern Territory home by a man who breached a domestic violence restraining order.

The 36-year-old woman was reported unconscious at her home in Coconut Grove, north of Darwin, at around 12.30pm on Saturday.

After arriving at the house, paramedics declared the woman dead.

A 43-year-old man turned himself in to the police at the scene.

It is assumed that the man and the woman know each other.

He was arrested and has since been charged with murder, sexual intercourse without consent, and violating a domestic violence restraining order.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

The NT Police investigation into the woman’s death is ongoing.
