Former NBA Player Ben McLemore Arrested on Multiple Charges; Accused of rape

Former NBA player Ben McLemore was arrested Tuesday and is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, both A-level felonies, as well as second-degree sexual abuse, according to KGW8 in Portland.

According to The Athletic’s Jason Quick, he was arraigned Wednesday in Clackamas County Circuit Court in Oregon and faces a $500,000 bond on a charge of first-degree rape.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon said he was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Clackamas County.

McLemore issued a statement Thursday denying the allegations, which stem from an encounter in October 2021:

According to Quick, each A-level felony carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

McLemore played one collegiate season for Kansas in 2012-13 before the Sacramento Kings selected him No. 7 overall in the 2013 NBA Draft.

During his NBA career, he played for the Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers. McLemore last appeared in an NBA game for Portland during the 2021-22 season.
