Police arrest two robbery suspects in Aurora after chase and attempted car theft

AURORA | Police are searching for possible victims of a carjacking after robbery suspects led officers on a chase from a grocery store in south Aurora to northeast Aurora Friday afternoon.

Police responded to an armed robbery reported Friday at the Walmart at 5650 S. Chambers Road. The time of the robbery was not released.

When officers arrived at Walmart, they began pursuing the suspects, who fled in a car.

At some point, the suspects crashed their car into another vehicle. Police said there were no injuries in the accident.

“Immediately after the accident, the suspects attempted to steal another vehicle,” police said. “This vehicle was a red sedan.”

The fleeing robbery suspects apparently failed to control the red sedan and began running somewhere near the corner of East 40th Avenue and Tower Road, police reported.

“A short foot chase began and officers were able to locate and arrest the suspects,” police said. “A weapon was successfully recovered.”

Police did not identify the suspects but said they would like to speak to the victims of the attempted car theft as part of the investigation.

“If you were a victim of the attempted car theft, please contact APD,” police said in a social media post.
