Jogger sexually harassed while jogging on popular Melbourne hiking trail

A woman fled to a nearby fast food restaurant after being sexually assaulted while jogging in Melbourne on Tuesday night.

The jogger was grabbed from behind on Tuesday evening as he ran along the popular fitness trail along Merri Creek in Coburg, north of the CBD, police said.

She managed to escape and alert staff at a nearby restaurant before being taken to hospital for treatment.

The perpetrator fled the crime scene.

A 25-year-old man from Coburg was arrested in connection with the attack in Carlton at around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

He is currently assisting the police in their investigations.

Detectives from the Sex Crimes Unit are investigating the incident.
