GILROY, Calif. (KION-TV) – Gilroy police are searching for a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred late Friday night.

Investigators said the accident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. in the area of ​​First Street and Eigleberry Street

Officers said they found an unconscious man on the street with serious injuries.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Gilroy police said the suspect escaped before officers arrived on the scene. The suspect’s vehicle was described by police as a black or dark-colored sedan that was driven westbound on First Street.
