Person found dead in Shawnee neighborhood on Sunday

A person was found dead in the backyard of a home in Shawnee on Sunday afternoon. The cause of death is currently unknown.

SHAWNEE, Oklahoma (KFOR) – A person was found dead in the backyard of a home in Shawnee on Sunday afternoon; the cause of death is currently unknown.

Shawnee police told KFOR they will not officially label the incident a homicide until the medical examiner completes his report.

The body was found in the backyard of a home near 400 North Pottenger Avenue near the Highland intersection.

While the investigation began, the area was cordoned off for several hours, but by 6 p.m. the crime scene had been cleared.

The identity will also only be disclosed once the next of kin have been contacted.
