While the investigation continues, the church holds a memorial service for Noah Bush

Jesup, Georgia (WTOC) – A Wayne County church filled with parishioners Saturday as funeral services for Noah Bush began.

The boy is the eight-year-old who, according to investigators, was found dead in a construction pit not far from his home last month after apparently drowning.

Since then, people have gathered in Jesup demanding further answers about this case.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is currently assisting local authorities.

Basketball jerseys, sneakers and a crowd came to support Noah Bush and his family during the burial of his body.

They remember their All-Star and Most Valuable Player.

“What if my baby was found like that? I would fight it tooth and nail. We will not stop until we get the answers that are his God-given right,” said protest organizer Kaylie Cline.

Many of these community members, such as Tieranie Smith, have been involved in the case since the beginning.

They attended the service and described their support as an act of love and service.

“Standing in truth and standing together in true love,” said participant Tieranie Smith. “Noah’s name means rest, Noah’s name means peace, Noah came to his destination, he was here at his destination.”

People who knew Noah say he was a bright spot in their lives at just eight years old.

“Noah was full of life and ambition in everything he did,” said Noah’s teacher.

On Friday, the community honored Noah by releasing balloons.

People gathered at the Donaldson-Madray-Hausa Field with red and black balloons.

Some also held up a balloon with the number 8 – that was Noah’s age.

“It means a lot to me that Noah touched so many people and brought all these people together here – it really means a lot to me that everyone came out and showed him their support,” said Jamarion Greatheart, Noah’s older brother. “My little brother, if I’m honest – I see a lot of myself in him. I see that drive to really want to be somebody special, and he definitely had that ability to be special. He didn’t let anything stop him, he wasn’t really afraid of anything. He was definitely someone to be reckoned with as he got older.”

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office released a statement Friday as the investigation into Noah’s death continues.

It states, among other things: “We recognize that some may feel that this investigation is taking too long, but we want to ensure that all the evidence we can get is collected. When the investigation is complete, any charges that are brought will be consistent with the evidence we have received.”
