Tommy Pham was ready to “take someone down” after the incident between the White Sox and the Brewers

MLB

Tommy Pham is not to be trifled with.

Just ask Joc Pederson.

But on Sunday, it was William Contreras who sparked Pham’s anger, making the MLB veteran sound like a professional wrestler doing a commercial when he met with the media after the White Sox’s recent loss to the Brewers.

With two outs in the eighth inning and the White Sox trailing 4-3, Pham was sent home to try and score the tying point. But the throw to the plate was easy for Pham, and Contreras gave him the strike, knocking him out of the game. He celebrated lavishly on the way to the Milwaukee dugout.

Pham didn’t like that and immediately verbally attacked Contreras, so that first the referee and then his team had to hold him back.

While on the field, Pham’s continued barking at the Brewers was all that mattered, after the game he responded to reporters with a heated response to the incident.

“I’m miles away from home, I walk into the dugout and hear the tough guy with all that hooray shit,” Pham said. “I never start anything, but I’ll be ready to finish it. There’s a reason I get in all kinds of fights in the offseason. Because I’m ready to take somebody down.”

“You can take it for what it is,” Pham added before walking away

The entire incident had no impact on the final outcome of the game, as the White Sox’s miserable season continued with a 6-3 loss to the Brewers, dropping their overall record to 15-45.

The Brewers won the series against the White Sox and Contreras, for his part, was not fazed by Pham’s outburst.

“I didn’t really pay attention to what he had to say,” Contreras told reporters“I was just excited about the game and went back to the dugout.”

Pham famously punched Pederson in the back during batting practice in 2022 before a game between the Giants and the Reds, the two players’ teams at the time.

The argument came from a fantasy football chat group.
