Police: Dean of a high school in Florida charged with sexual offenses against students

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A former Florida high school dean is behind bars for multiple sexual offenses against several students, according to Ocala police.

Gregory Ramputi, 42, who worked as a dean at Vanguard High School in Ocala, was involved in misconduct on and off school grounds for several years, authorities said.

In May 2024, a high school senior reported to her School Resource Officer that Ramputi had had inappropriate contact with her and other students throughout her time at school.

According to police, four other female students have come forward with similar experiences. They claimed that Ramputi asked them to expose their breasts and made comments about participating in sexual acts.

According to the department, several students said that the former dean had groped them several times and even had sexual relations with one of the students. Ramputi also demanded nude photos of a student that police said he had seen.

On May 21, officials announced that Ramputi had resigned from his post.

Ramputi was arrested on May 31 and charged with five counts of assault on students by persons in authority, five counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, three counts of driving to meet minors, two counts of lewd or lascivious touching of a minor and one count of possession of child pornography.

“This is an alarming reminder that even some people in positions of power and trust can be corrupt, and it is a strong incentive to remain vigilant and ensure that those in authority are held accountable for their actions,” the police department said. “Student safety is our top priority and we have zero tolerance for this gross misconduct.”

Anyone who has experienced similar behavior from Ramputi is asked to contact Ocala Police at (352) 369-7000.
