Philadelphia police officer injured on dirt bike after collision with car

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A Philadelphia police officer riding a dirt bike was injured Sunday when he was hit by a car, police said.

It happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. at the corner of East Cayuga Street and Bennington Street.

According to authorities, the officer was on duty in an all-terrain vehicle when a woman in a black Honda CRV turned around and collided with the police dirt bike.

The officer allegedly slipped into a parked vehicle after the collision, resulting in injuries.

Authorities said the officer, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken to Temple University Hospital in unknown condition.

No further injuries were reported.

According to police, the front of the Honda was damaged and the police dirt bike is a total loss.

It is not yet known whether charges will be filed in this case.
