LMPD investigates shooting in St. Denis neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred in the St. Denis neighborhood on Tuesday.

When officers arrived, LMPD said they found two people who had been shot and that one of the victims had his car stolen during the incident.

Authorities said officers found the car near Cane Run Road and Rockford and they pursued the car until it was wrecked in the 1400 block of Catalpa near Maupin Elementary.

In response to the investigation, Jefferson County Public Schools placed the elementary school under increased security and has since given the all-clear.

Police said they have arrested one of the alleged suspects and believe at least one other person escaped.

Both victims were taken to the hospital and police said they were expected to survive.

LMPD’s Robbery Unit is leading the investigation.
