Buffalo man pleads guilty to selling drugs that led to overdose death

BUFFALO, NY – A Buffalo man could potentially spend a maximum of 20 years in prison and pay a $1,000,000 fine after selling drugs that led to an overdose death.

Darryl Sweat, 33, pleaded guilty to distribution of cocaine, fentanyl and para-fluorofentanyl.

On April 18, 2022, Sweat sold cocaine to one of his regular customers and 2 days later, law enforcement and emergency services pronounced the customer dead at their home. The cause of death was mixed intoxication, including cocaine, fentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl and tramadol, according to the autopsy.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 18, 2024.
