IT employee arrested for sexually abusing 3.5-year-old child in North Chennai

CHENNAI: Police on Sunday arrested a 33-year-old man, an employee of an IT company, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a three-and-a-half-year-old girl at his house in north Chennai.

The accused has been identified as Vinoth Kumar. Police said he is employed with an IT company in Thiruvanmiyur. The victim is the daughter of the accused’s neighbours.

Since both parents had to leave early for work, they left the child in the care of the neighbors, whereupon Vinoth allegedly sexually abused the child.

On Saturday, the child complained to his mother about stomach pain, whereupon the parents questioned the child and learned about the neighbor’s behavior.

The parents filed a complaint with the Thiruvottiyur All Women Police Station (AWPS). The police arrested Vinoth on Sunday after investigation.

In another incident, a small-time film producer, Mohammed Ali (33), was arrested by the Ambattur AWPS for sexually abusing one of his employees.

The accused is said to have cheated on the 28-year-old woman by concealing her marriage and then sexually abusing her under the pretext of a relationship.

In addition, he forced her to have an abortion by giving her abortion pills and telling her they were nutritional supplements.

Both defendants were brought before a judge and taken into custody.
