DCSO: Two arrests in firearms investigation

Joshua Vick, 19, of Owensboro, and Chelsea Hastie, 33, of Owensboro, were arrested after the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office found drugs and a defaced weapon during a firearms investigation Sunday morning, the DCSO reports.

According to DCSO, the agency was dispatched to the 200 block of Irene Ave where Vick pointed a firearm at two juveniles. Before officers arrived on the scene, they reported that Vick was taken by the juveniles and then fled before DCSO arrived.

At 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning, officers received a tip that Vick was at a residence in the 6800 block of Thoma Drive. Officers found Vick at the residence with two other people. They then took Vick into custody and detained the other two people.

After a search, Vick was reportedly in possession of “suspected methamphetamine.” After officers obtained a search warrant, they found the defaced firearm used in Saturday’s incident, as well as additional suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.

Officers continued to search the apartment and found drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine in Hastie’s room.

They also discovered a large quantity of synthetic drugs as well as numerous bags and cash and believe these are part of a smuggling operation.

The third was released without charge.

Vick is accused of the following:

  • Reckless Endangerment – ​​1st Degree (2 counts)
  • Possession of a defaced firearm
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Carrying a concealed weapon

According to the search warrant, Vick is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine) (Enhanced)
  • Drug Paraphernalia (Buy/Possess) (Advanced)
  • Possession of marijuana (increased)

The following allegations are made against Hastie:

  • Trafficking in synthetic drugs – 1st offense
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Drug paraphernalia (buying/possession)

Both are being held at the Daviess County Detention Center.
