State Police detectives investigate Ellendale homicide – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred Saturday night in Ellendale that left one man dead.

On June 1, 2024, at approximately 10:47 p.m., officers were called to a residence in the 13000 block of South Old State Road in Ellendale for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 28-year-old man in the front yard with a gunshot wound to the chest and began life-saving measures. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed that during an argument between the victim and a woman, the woman pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The Homicide Unit is actively investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Detective B. McDerby at 302-741-2821.
