Israel attacks Hezbollah military base in Lebanon

Beirut: Israeli warplanes on Sunday attacked a military base used by Hezbollah to deploy attack drones against Israeli army targets, Lebanese military sources told the Xinhua news agency.

Israeli warplanes fired three air-to-ground missiles at a Hezbollah military The base is located west of the city of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon, about 80 kilometers from the Lebanon-Israel border, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

According to the sources, the rockets destroyed the base and injured two people who were taken to a hospital in the city of Baalbek.

Also on Sunday morning, Israeli warplanes carried out three strikes on the southeastern villages of Kfarhamam, Rachaya al Foukhar and Halta, wounding 18 civilians, including nine children, the sources added.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah said its fighters had attacked the Yarden military base in the Golan Heights on Sunday morning, targeting the Iron Dome radar station and the areas where officers and soldiers were stationed.

Tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border escalated on October 8, 2023, after Hezbollah fired a rocket attack at Israel in solidarity with Hamas’ attack on Israel the previous day. Israel retaliated with heavy artillery fire toward southeast Lebanon.
