An Oxford woman was recently arrested for allegedly being involved in a domestic violence case.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a report of a domestic incident in Tula Township on May 27.

Officers interviewed those involved in the attack and determined that the main perpetrator, 27-year-old Dakota Bowen of Oxford, had attacked a woman.

Brown was arrested for simple assault in the context of domestic violence. However, it was discovered that Bowen had a butcher knife on her during the attack. Since Bowen was previously convicted of aggravated assault in June 2016, she was subsequently charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Bowen was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center without incident. On May 28, Bowen appeared before a Justice of the Peace Judge and was given bail of $15,000.

That bail was revoked because Bowen was on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The Mississippi Department of Corrections had issued a warrant for Bowen’s arrest.

Bowen is currently being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center.
