Atlanta Falcons tampering investigation to have official decision this week

After thinking a decision would be made before the draft, the tampering investigations of the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles will likely reach their conclusion this week, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

In Schefter’s report, he claims the Falcons’ punishment will be “more severe” because of their alleged “greater” tampering.

Fans believed that the surprise selection of Michael Penix, Jr. was due to the possible outcomes of this investigation, especially considering the recent results of other tampering investigations. Other “serious” tampering investigations include:

  • The Miami Dolphins lose their 2023 first-round pick and 2024 third-round pick for tampering with quarterbacks Tom Brady and Sean Peyton.
  • The Kansas City Chiefs lose their 2016 third-round pick and a 2017 sixth-round pick for tampering with former Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Head coach Andy Reid and general manager John Dorsey were also fined approximately $260,000.
