New Jersey man charged after girlfriend dies in machete attack – NBC10 Philadelphia

Police officials in New Jersey have charged a 24-year-old man with murder after a woman – described by officials as his girlfriend – died a week after being attacked with a machete in her Wall Township home.

According to police, a woman – about whom police did not provide further information – died on Thursday, May 30, after being hospitalized following an attack that occurred a week earlier.

Officials said the woman suffered “multiple significant injuries” in a machete attack at her home in the Glen Oaks Apartment Complex in Wall Township, New Jersey, in the incident, which occurred at approximately 9:22 p.m. on Thursday, May 23.

Police said Alex Williams, 24, was charged with murder following that incident. He had previously been arrested and charged with attempted murder following the attack, officials said.

He is also accused of endangering the welfare of a child because the woman’s child was in “immediate proximity” to the attack, police officials said.

Williams is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. A preliminary hearing on his sentence is scheduled for Friday, June 7, according to police.
