Shooting in Ohio leaves one dead and two dozen others injured, police report

According to police, one person was killed and at least two dozen people were injured, some seriously, in a shooting in the early hours of the morning in Ohio.

Gunshots were reported on a street in the city of Akron just after midnight early Sunday, and several victims were hit by the gunfire, police said. Local hospitals notified emergency dispatchers shortly afterward that people with gunshot wounds were being admitted to the emergency room.

Captain Michael Miller, Akron police spokesman, told The Associated Press Sunday morning that there were 25 victims in total and one had died. Some of the victims were in critical condition, while others had injuries that were not life-threatening, he said.

CBS affiliate WOIO reported that police found dozens of bullet casings and a firearm at the scene. The station said the victim was a 27-year-old man.

No arrests have been reported. Police said the investigation is still in its early stages and asked anyone with information to call detectives.
