“An incident has surfaced in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, where a Hindu girl was abducted and converted to Islam. The 18-year-old was abducted by Shakeel Ahmed on May 20 and taken to Mumbai, according to her family. He then converted her to Islam and married her. He also changed her name to Iqra. On May 28, the two were found by the authorities, who registered a case against them based on the allegations made by the woman’s family. She was detained at the One Staff Centre of the women’s police station.

After her medical examination on May 29, the accused was produced in the court and remanded in custody. The police also recorded her statements in court. Now further legal action has been initiated. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders also came to meet her family. They also accused the culprit of receiving money from somewhere for love jihad. They demanded legal action and an investigation into the matter.

The case falls under Girwan police station area. The family members told the police that on May 20 (election day), the Muslim youth from Mahua village along with his two companions abducted their daughter from the house by making her inhale an intoxicating substance, following which the police registered a case under Section 366….”
