Connecticut State Police investigate serious truck and motorcycle crash

State police were investigating a serious accident in Griswold that occurred early Saturday afternoon and seriously injured a man.

At around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash in the area of ​​1089 Hopeville Road and found a pickup truck and a motorcycle that had collided, according to Connecticut State Police Troop E.

Police said investigators found a motorcycle driven by a 55-year-old Jewett City man was traveling southbound and approaching the driveway of 1089 Hopeville Road while a pickup truck was stopped at the top of the driveway waiting to turn left onto the road heading north.

When the truck turned left and returned to the road, the motorcycle hit the left side of the truck, police said.

The motorcyclist was thrown from his motorcycle and landed nearby. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, police said.
