EaseMyTrip CEO Nishant Pitti responded to Congress’ criticism of the resumption of bookings to the Maldives. He highlighted the company’s nationalistic stance, noting that while bookings to the Maldives were suspended from January 8, there were some between May 16 and May 26, which were quickly lifted. Pitti questioned why Congress had only targeted EaseMyTrip, pointing out that Chinese travel portals had never stopped promoting the Maldives. He reiterated the company’s commitment to India, stressing that the company has been operating without foreign investment for 16 years. The boycott began after a diplomatic row over offensive social media posts by Maldivian ministers. Despite the boycott, EaseMyTrip reported its highest-ever EBITDA in FY2024. dig deeper
