Two women have filed lawsuits against former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus, claiming he sexually harassed them on the team’s flight to a game in London last year, according to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco.

The two women, whose names were not disclosed, filed the lawsuit in Duval County Civil Court on Friday evening. They are demanding more than a million dollars in damages.

The women were working as flight attendants on the Jaguars’ charter flight to London in September 2023 ahead of their game against the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium. The flight, the women claimed, “quickly turned into a party.”

According to the report, McManus and other players violated the flight attendants’ privacy, flight safety and federal law. McManus also allegedly recruited other flight attendants for the party and handed out $100 bills to get them to drink and dance for him.

The first woman, according to the lawsuit, said McManus tried to kiss her during turbulence while she was seated. He also allegedly rubbed himself against her twice while serving food and drinks. The second woman said McManus also rubbed himself against her during a meal service portion of the flight. She said she confronted McManus about it, but he “grinned and walked away.” The second woman said she stayed on the second floor of the plane on the team’s return flight to Jacksonville after the game to avoid him.

The two women also included the Jaguars in their lawsuit for allegedly failing to supervise McManus and create a safe environment for personnel on the plane. The charter flight was the first the two women had worked for the team, according to the report, and they said they experienced “severe mental anguish, anxiety, mental and emotional distress, embarrassment and humiliation.”

In a statement issued through his lawyer on Monday evening, McManus denied the allegations against him.

“To be clear, these are absolutely fabricated and demonstrably false allegations made as part of a campaign to defame and disparage a talented and respected NFL player,” McManus’ attorney Brett R. Gallaway said in a statement. “We intend to vigorously defend Brandon’s rights and integrity and clear his name by showing what these allegations really are – an extortion attempt.”

McManus began his career with the Denver Broncos, where he spent the first nine years of his career. Last season, he made 30 of 37 field goals and made all of his extra points with the Jaguars. Jacksonville did not re-sign McManus in the offseason, but he has since signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Washington Commanders.

“We were notified earlier today of the civil lawsuit filed against Brandon McManus on May 24,” the Commanders said in a statement. “We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are investigating the matter. We have communicated with the league office and Brandon’s representative and will refrain from commenting further at this time.”

The Jaguars also made a similar statement on Monday evening.

“We are aware of the complaint and recognize the significance of the allegations,” the team said in a statement. “As we continue to investigate the matter, it is important to emphasize that we insist on an organization built by people who represent our community and our game with the highest character and class.”
