Despite efforts to obtain information, the youth remained tight-lipped during questioning, police said HT.

“Our officers questioned the minor about his whereabouts before the accident, his presence in the Blak and Cosie pubs, driving the Porsche, details of the accident, tampering with evidence, taking blood samples and medical tests. To all questions, the minor replied with a single answer: he could not remember anything because he was drunk,” said a criminal investigation officer. Initial investigations revealed that the minor and his friends had consumed alcoholic beverages in the two pubs, where they had a total bill of 48,000.

In the meantime, The Times of IndiaQuoting Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the mother of the minor driver, who was arrested on Saturday for giving her blood sample instead of that of her son, told the police that the doctors at Sassoon General Hospital had told her to give her blood sample instead of that of the boy.

“We recorded the statement of the woman (49). She told us that the doctors at the hospital told her to give her blood as a sample and not that of her son. She pretended not to know why the doctors told her that.” The Times of India Amitesh Kumar was quoted as saying.

On Sunday, a court in Pune ordered the boy’s parents to remain in police custody until June 5 in a case involving destruction of evidence.

The duo is being investigated for their alleged role in tampering with the minor’s blood sample following the May 19 car accident in the city of Pune in Maharashtra state that left two IT professionals dead.

The minor’s mother, Shivani Agarwal, was arrested on June 1 after it was revealed that the boy’s blood samples had been replaced with hers.

The Pune police had taken his father, real estate agent Vishal Agrawal, who was earlier arrested in a similar case, into custody for allegedly being involved in destruction of evidence. The police produced the two before a holiday court in the city of Pune in Maharashtra state and sought their remand, which was granted till June 5.

Police told the court that the Vishal Agarwal couple had hatched a conspiracy and destroyed the evidence related to the accident.

They went to a government hospital and tampered with the minor’s blood samples, police said. The couple’s lawyer, Prashant Patil, said police had already searched their house and seized the footage from the CCTV camera installed there.

They have been booked under Section 201 of the Penal Code (destruction of evidence of an offence), which is a bailable offence, and hence they should be remanded in judicial custody, Patil said.

In addition to the minor’s parents, the police also arrested his grandfather, Surendra Agarwal. He is accused, among other things, of kidnapping the family driver and pressuring him to take responsibility for the accident.

The other people in police custody are two doctors from the state-run Sassoon General Hospital and an employee who are accused of switching Minos’ blood samples.

Police have filed three separate cases in connection with the car crash. The three cases include a complaint about the accident and a complaint against the bar that allegedly served alcohol to the teenager.

Police arrested the boy’s father for allowing him to drive without a valid driver’s license.

A third case concerns the unlawful imprisonment and coercion of the driver’s family to take responsibility for the accident.
