Kullu: A returning officer and a sector officer of a polling station in Himachal Pradesh were suspended on Saturday after it was found that an EVM meant for the by-election from Gagret parliamentary seat was used for the Lok Sabha election from Hamirpur parliamentary seat. Gagret is a parliamentary seat in Hamirpur. The incident took place at Mandwara polling station. “As soon as we came to know about the mistake, the returning officer and the sector officer were removed,” the official said. By the time the mistake was discovered, 52 voters had already cast their votes. The official said these voters were asked to vote again using the correct EVM. Meanwhile, the EVMs in some polling stations were not working properly. These included six in Bilaspur, four in Solan, three in Shimla, one in Kangra, three in Hamirpur and one in Mandi.
