Malappuram: A man here has been sentenced to 139 years in prison for sexually abusing his 14-year-old daughter. Besides the jail term, he was also fined Rs 585,000.

The child’s mother and grandmother, who covered up the incident, were also asked by Parappanangadi POCSO Fast Track Court Judge A. Fathima Beevi to pay compensation of Rs 10,000 each. The prosecution argued that the girl was sexually abused by her father on May 21, 2020, and on the following two days.

If the main defendant does not pay the fine, he will also have to serve a prison sentence of six years and three months. According to the verdict, if the second and third defendants do not pay the fine, they will have to serve a prison sentence of 15 days.

The entire compensation amount will be paid to the victim. The District Legal Authority has been directed to pay compensation if the accused fails to pay the amount.

The case was investigated by Tirurangadi Sub-Inspector Nausdhad Ibrahim and Inspector Vinod. Special Public Prosecutor Adv. Shama Malik took over the prosecution.
