Bihar: Ram Kripal Yadav’s convoy attacked in Patna, 2 workers injured | Patna News

PATNA: BJP candidate for Patliputra Lok Sabha seat Ram Kripal Yadav had a narrow escape when his convoy was attacked by a group of miscreants on the Patna-Jehanabad road at Tineri village in Masaurhi police station area on Saturday evening.

While Yadav narrowly escaped, his two supporters who were travelling with him in the car were injured.

Patna SSP Rajiv Mishra said an application stating that Ram Kripal’s convoy was attacked and fired upon was received and a complaint was filed. “Police arrived at the scene and started investigation. Nine persons have been accused in the complaint,” he said, adding that the incident took place after 7.30 pm and earlier the polling had concluded peacefully at 6 pm and the EVM had also reached its intended destination.

In the complaint, Ram Kripal claims that he received information that a woman was trying to enter the polling booth illegally. When he was returning after inspecting the polling station in Tineri, his convoy was attacked by a group of men, he claimed. They pelted stones and fired, leaving two of his followers with injuries and being admitted to a nearby hospital, he stated in the complaint.

City SP (East) Bharat Soni said there was information about an attack on Ram Kripal’s convoy near Tineri village on the Patna-Jehanabad road. “Some party workers were injured. Ram Kripal has filed an application and we are investigating the case. No empty cartridge cases were found at the crime scene. Police have identified the persons and are conducting raids on their hideouts. Action is being taken,” he said.

“The attack on Ram Kripal ji was a well-planned conspiracy. There are political rivalries and animosities behind this incident. There should be a high-level investigation and the perpetrators should be arrested and severely punished,” said BJP leader Nikhil Anand.
