4 WRs the Chiefs should trade for after the new Rashee Rice incident

The Houston Texans massively upgraded their wide receiver room this offseason with the acquisition of Bills star Stefon Diggs. John Metchie III has no real path to relevance in the offseason with incumbents Nico Collins and Tank Dell also gobbling up targets.

He was a 2022 second-round pick who beat leukemia, and I still believe in the former Alabama star. Metchie caught three catches for 44 yards in the Texans’ playoff win over the Browns and caught 96 passes for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns in his final season with the Crimson Tide.

The Texans sent a significant amount of capital to acquire Diggs, so I would imagine they would be open to a trade that involves extracting capital from a player they may not have a role for. However, he is elusive as he has the strong hands, power and profile to succeed and I want him to be given a chance.

The ability to break tackles and create yards after the catch has not gone away in my opinion. Even when he played a backup role last year, he still managed to put up 158 yards. If Brett Veach wants to find a cost-effective option as Rashee Rice insurance, I love the former Crimson Tide star’s idea.

We still have a long way to go before the season, but Rice’s situation leaves everything uncertain. The Chiefs should consider all options and I wouldn’t be surprised if an acquisition were to happen, whether via trade or free agency.
