Pedestrian hit and killed by train in East Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WKRN) – Authorities say a pedestrian was killed Saturday night in a collision with a train near the Inglewood neighborhood in east Nashville.

Metro Nashville’s dispatch center said the accident was reported shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, from the railroad crossing at the intersection of McGavock Pike and Bronte Avenue.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department confirmed to News 2 that a pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a CSX train. However, there is currently no information on the pedestrian’s identity.

At the time of writing, several railway crossings are blocked by the train involved in the incident. Officials say the scene of the accident is not expected to be cleared until the morning.
