‘Hard on all of us’; Family releases balloons to honor two men killed in motorcycle crash – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

HARRISON TOWNSHIP – Dozens of people gathered to remember the two Dayton men who died in a motorcycle accident last weekend.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00The families of Shawn Norman and Clarence Weatherby released balloons at the intersection where they died.

On May 25 at approximately 9:00 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics were dispatched to Main Street (SR-48) and Philadelphia Drive for a report of a motorcycle accident.

When rescue teams arrived on the scene, Shawn and Clarence were pronounced dead. The two were best friends and brothers-in-law.

According to an earlier report from News Center 7, an SUV turned left onto Philadelphia Drive and struck the motorcycle.

Chris Norman, Shawn’s brother, said the two always spent time together.

“They were together every Saturday, about once a week you would see them together either on a Friday or Saturday,” Chris said.

Family members, colleagues, friends and neighbors were present at the balloon launch.

One of Shawn’s longtime colleagues said he would miss seeing him every day.

“He would get on your nerves and then make you smile and carry on,” said the colleague.

While their families are still grieving, they said it is a sense of peace knowing the two are together.

Shawn and Clarence’s wives expressed their feelings about their husbands.

“Shawn was a happy person, he had a beautiful smile on his face,” said La Shanna Norman.

“I love you, Clarence, I love you, Shawn, with all my heart,” said Loletha Weatherby.

Shawn’s funeral will be held on June 9th at 9am at the House of Wheat.

The family told News Center 7’s Malik Patterson that Clarence will be buried in Washington DC
