Alek Isaiah Collins, 26, is currently charged with two counts of murder, two counts of child abuse and one count of kidnapping. However, another child could not be found nearby. Officers then spoke with witnesses at the scene, one of whom recalled hearing about six to eight gunshots in the area. He told them that he had heard it while walking in the park that day. Police also discovered 9mm caliber shell casings near the bodies of Cisneros and Allen. Through their investigation, officers learned that Cisneros was the mother of Torres and the five-year-old child. She was with her children the day of the shooting. Authorities soon issued a search warrant for the minivan found at the scene. During their search, officers said they found a receipt for the nearby Dollar Tree. The store is nearly seven miles from the park and travel time is approximately 10 minutes by car. Videos later obtained by the company confirmed the presence of Cisneros, Allen and their children. Police also executed search warrants for cell phone providers and found a phone number registered to Collins. It was located near the park around the same time the shooting occurred, as was the Dollar Tree when the victims had previously shopped at the store. Based on the search warrant, authorities determined that Collins was using an app called “ Turo. It is a car sharing company that allows private car owners to rent out their vehicles via an online and mobile platform. Officials say the car’s original owner was able to provide GPS coordinates through a surveillance system attached to the Honda. According to the data, the car traveled from Clovis to Friona, Texas; Dimmitt, Texas; Earth, Texas; Sudan, Texas; Littlefield, Texas; Levelland, Texas; Ropesville, Texas; Tahoka, Texas; Post Office, Texas; Snyder, Texas; Roby, Texas; Anson, Texas; and finally to Abilene, Texas. The car was soon abandoned at a house on Harwell Street. According to the document, local agents were then sent to the apartment using a search warrant. While conducting surveillance in the area, police noticed Collins pushing a maroon Honda sedan out of the garage and onto the street. It also had the same Texas license plate. Officers arrested Collins following an incident at the home. Police added that a Glock 43X with a 9mm caliber was found. His 10-month-old son was also found in the home with him. Her family was soon informed of her recovery and arrangements were made to bring her home.
