Death investigation underway at Statesville home – WSOC TV

STATESVILLE, NC — Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in her home early Saturday morning.

In a news release, Statesville police said they were called to the home on Hickory Avenue just after 4 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found the body of 33-year-old Shelbie Smith inside the home.

Police have launched an investigation into her death with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Authorities have not released information about Smith’s cause of death or whether foul play was involved.

Investigators asked anyone with information to call Statesville police at 704-878-3516.
