Daughter of man killed in Newman Lake house fire speaks out | Spokane News

NEWMAN LAKE, Wash. – On April 30, a man, Larry Taylor (“LT”), died in a fatal house fire.

Newman Lake Fire and Rescue said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, but investigators determined the location and origin of the fire was inside the home.

The coroner’s office has not yet made an assessment.

Fire officials added that they were unable to find any working smoke detectors and that the home likely did not have working smoke detectors.

“I think they reacted in a very timely manner. There are no… fire hydrants… and the terrain is difficult to navigate. The firefighters had to create some kind of reservoir to pour water in and then pull us back,” said Farah Taylor, LT’s daughter.

Taylor claims she believes firefighters did everything they could to save her father and his home.

Taylor told NonStop Local that LT purchased the property in 1989. Growing up, she spent her time between her father’s house and her mother’s house.

“I spent every birthday out here,” Taylor said.

Although these memories go up with the house in flames, Taylor plans to rebuild her father’s house.

“The day of the fire, I didn’t know if I would be able to come here and enjoy the water again. But since then, I’ve been out here every day and seen the beauty and the view of my father. “I see a day when, after reconstruction, we can come here and visit my father and think of him.”
