Car crashes in Little Rock and Hot Springs leave two people dead, another injured | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

According to preliminary police reports, two people were killed and another person was injured in two separate accidents on Arkansas roads on Tuesday evening and Friday afternoon.

Latasha King, 42, of Little Rock was fatally injured around 8:41 p.m. Tuesday near 3900 Oakwood Road, according to a Little Rock police report. Oakwood Road is in a hilly area near Allsopp Park in Little Rock.

According to the report, King was struck and pulled under her vehicle after she got out and stood behind it to prevent it from rolling back. The vehicle, whose name was not given in the report, ran over King and she succumbed to her injuries at an area hospital, the report said.

An officer investigating the death reported that the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time.

Misty Depew, 41, of Hot Springs, a passenger in a 2001 Buick Century, was killed around 12:48 p.m. Friday near McClendon Street in Hot Springs, a Hot Springs police report said.

According to the report, the Buick struck a railing on East Grand Avenue, then crossed two lanes and struck a bridge railing.

Police said the driver of an eastbound 2016 Toyota Corolla attempted to avoid a collision with the Buick but lightly contacted the rear of the car, causing the bridge railing to give way. The Buick overturned and fell into the creek below, the report said.

Gary Depew, 42, of Hot Springs, the driver of the Buick, was injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the report said.

An officer investigating the accident reported that it was raining at the time and the road was wet.
