Belleville man arrested for drunk driving after accident in Valles mines | Accidents

A 43-year-old Belleville, Illinois man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Friday evening, May 31, after a car crash occurred on Highway 67 north of Mount Olive Road north of Valles Mines in Jefferson County. The man was seriously injured in the crash, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 7:47 p.m., the man was driving his 2007 Lincoln MKZ south on the highway, too fast for wet road conditions, when the car left the right side of the road and overturned, the report said.

According to the report, the man was taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in southern St. Louis County.

He was wearing a seatbelt, the patrol reported.

The car was a total loss, the report said.

The highway police arrested the man at the hospital at 10 p.m. for drunk driving.

His name will not be released unless charges are filed against him in this case. However, as of today, June 1, no charges have been filed.
