Is Caitlin Clark facing a possible suspension from the WNBA?

Despite her high number of technical fouls this season, Caitlin Clark is still setting records and is a strong contender for Rookie of the Year.

Although Indiana Fever star rookie Caitlin Clark was briefly sidelined by the media following the team’s May 24 triumph, the WNBA team’s season has largely been defined by a 1-8 losing streak that defies expectations. As if all of that wasn’t enough to cast a pall of disappointment over Clark’s major league debut, the possibility of her suspension is now very real, and she’s in a tough spot.

The total number of their technical fouls increases by the minute.

Can Caitlin Clark be suspended?

Things took a nasty turn Thursday night when Seattle Storm defender Victoria Vivians faced off against the highly anticipated basketball player. After making her big-game debut earlier this year, Clark had only played nine games in the WNBA when she received two double technical fouls. Now she has three.

The WNBA suspends players who receive seven technical fouls in a season for one game. Additionally, the player’s schedule will be suspended for one game for each additional technical foul. All eyes are on Clark, with 31 games remaining in the regular season. He can’t afford to receive a technical foul after the third count.

Rivals of Indiana Fever will focus specifically on the 22-year-old star and try to find a way to keep her off the court.
In the end, the Storm humiliated Indiana with a 103-88 loss on Thursday.

What was the reason for Caitlin Clark’s technical foul on Thursday?

Indiana trailed Seattle 34-25 before halftime. It was close, but Caitlin’s three-pointer saved her team. But Vivian’s didn’t let her rest, and as they sprinted down the court, the two got into a heated exchange. Each received a technical penalty for the intense fight.

During the subsequent face-off, Clark was assisted by Fever coach Christie Sides. Shortly before she committed a technical foul in the third quarter, she got into an argument with the referee.

After their loss, Sides criticized Seattle’s Sami Whitcomb for his offensive fouls against Clark that went unpunished. Sides said:

“I feel like they’re getting some calls from our side as well, but I just don’t feel like we’re getting some of them.”

Her previous technical fouls were the result of verbal abuse from referees. She received a technical flag after telling the referee, “That’s a damn foul,” following a play that didn’t require the referee to call during a crushing loss to the Connecticut Sun.
