Man reported missing after accident in Santiago de Cuba – found dead

Aliusky Almaguer Lopeza Cuban who was involved in a traffic accident in Santiago de Cubawas found dead at his workplace, where he apparently committed suicide. Independent journalist Yosmany Labrada published on Facebook images of the accident involving a truck of the CIMEX Corporation driven by Almaguer Lopez. The vehicle collided with an old car at the intersection of San Francisco Street And San Félix Street; however, no injuries were reported.

Almaguer Lopez’s family lived in Altamira District and father of two children, lost contact with him after the accident. He apparently left the scene of the accident and locked himself in his office, where he was later found hanged. His wife, Daineris Aguilera Rojasasked for help in his search on social media and said they had searched various hospitals in the city without success.

But after 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, several people, including CIMEX employees, confirmed to the reporter that 41-year-old Almaguer Lopez had been found dead in his office.

“Good morning, Yosmany. I was a work colleague and a very good friend of Aliuski. When I heard he was missing, I moved heaven and earth to find out something about him. And now, this morning, I was told that he committed suicide,” a source commented.

The man worked at the CIMEX offices in the Vista Alegre neighborhood of Santiago de Cuba, where he worked as a driver and security and alarm technician. The publication suggests that he considered the traffic accident serious and saw death as the only way out.
