Rapist who spent six years in prison runs ‘party bus’ that takes hen parties to clubs

Jason Roberts spent six years in prison for raping a woman at a house party, but today he runs a party bus that organizes bachelorette parties and high school proms for teenagers.

Convicted rapist Jason Robert now runs a party bus company

A convicted rapist runs a party bus that takes women to nightclubs and bachelorette parties.

Jason Robert, 38, makes his money taking girls on boozy nights. And unsuspecting revellers are leaving rave reviews and urging others to book his tours. Little do they know that Robert spent six years in prison for raping a 20-year-old woman.

Basildon Crown Court in Essex heard how he plied the victim with alcohol at a house party before taking her upstairs and raping her. And he was found guilty of groping another 21-year-old woman at the same party in 2011.

Last night, one horrified passenger said: “It is absolutely disgusting that he can afford to run a company that drives around girls who are obviously easy to take advantage of.”

Under the name Bass Bus UK, Robert specialises in club tours from Essex to London as well as transporting teenagers to school proms.

A promotional copy on the website boasts: “We have established ourselves as a popular choice and premier destination for party bus entertainment. Our nightclub tour redefines the meaning of the word clubbing – our live DJs play some of the best beats to ensure the party goes on all night long.”

The all-inclusive £40 parties include entry to the venues and cocktails, and staff, including Robert, escort guests between clubs and drive them home in the early hours of the morning.

Karen Whybro, a women’s safety adviser and researcher on violence against women, said: “I am absolutely disgusted that someone convicted of rape is allowed access to women in situations where they may be at their most vulnerable.”

“Every woman has the right to feel safe on an evening out, and I believe that includes being aware that a man who may be there to protect us has a previous conviction for such a serious crime.”

Operators of public transport engaged in the carriage of passengers for remuneration require a licence issued by a transport commissioner. To obtain one, applicants must prove that they are of good repute.

The UK Transport Authority could not find a PSV licence under Mr Robert’s name or business address.

Southend-based Robert was contacted for comment.
