St. Lucie Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested for Excessive Use of Force

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (WCJB) – Randy Walker, a deputy with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office for eight years, was arrested following an arrest he was involved in on April 2.

Although no complaint of excessive force was ever filed, an internal investigation by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department and the St. Lucie Criminal Investigation Division resulted in the issuance of two arrest warrants, one count of “False Statement – Officer, Forgery, Official Statement” and one count of Assault.

A statement from St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson said, “This was the result of our internal review process, which includes reviewing body-worn camera video. As all use of force incidents are reviewed internally per our policy, the supervisors and colleagues present concluded that his conduct that day was excessive and did not conform to the conduct we expect from our officers.”

Deputy Walker is currently on unpaid administrative leave pending termination.
