Atlanta Braves Probable Pitchers and Starting Lineups vs. Oakland Athletics, June 1

The Braves got off to a great start to June with a 4-1 win last night in Game 1 of the series against Oakland. Starter Reynaldo Lopez lowered his ERA to a National League-leading 1.73. The offense was fueled by a two-run double from Jarred Kelenic as they finally showed some signs of life.

Atlanta currently sits at a 32-23 record and 6.5 games behind the Phillies (who have the best record in baseball). This afternoon, they will look to clinch a series victory against Oakland behind their star veteran lefty.

Chris Sale (8-1, 2.12 ERA) is going to be as brilliant a month as possible. Hopefully he’ll know soon that he was named NL Pitcher of the Month. For now, the calendar has flipped to June and Sale will look to continue its impressive recent run against the A’s this afternoon at Truist Park.

Aaron Brooks (0-2, 3.63 ERA) is not a former professional basketball player, but rather a 34-year-old RHP for Oakland. Despite the good ERA, Brooks appears to be on the verge of some regression based on his batted ball data. Brooks is similar to Oakland’s starter yesterday, JP Sears, in that he primarily throws his slider above average. However, Brooks has seen hitters play on his fastball, as he ranks in the 11th percentile in the value of Fastball Run.
