Argument at New Haven store leads to fatal stabbing: police – NBC Connecticut

An argument at a New Haven store led to a stabbing that left one man dead early Saturday morning.

St. Raphael’s Hospital contacted New Haven police around 1 a.m. about a man who came in with a suspected gunshot wound.

As police later announced, it turned out that 47-year-old Travis James of New Haven had not been shot but stabbed.

James was unresponsive and in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators believe James was involved in an argument at Sam’s Mart on Whalley Avenue when he got into an argument with someone.

The argument escalated and James was reportedly stabbed. Someone then took James to the hospital.

Detectives have investigated crime scenes at both the hospital and Sam’s Mart.
