Police operation at Dartford Crossing leads to long delays for motorists

Emergency services have responded to an incident which has resulted in the partial closure of a section of Dartford Crossing.

Essex Police responded to the Dartford Crossing at 1.40pm today, 1 June, after receiving reports of a person at the border crossing.

For this reason, the first lane of the A282 South QE2 Bridge was closed at the junction.

A spokesman for Essex Police spoke to The Southend Echoand confirms that the person is now safe.

They said: “We were called at 1.40pm today, Saturday 1st June, to an incident involving someone walking at Dartford Crossing.

“They were brought to safety with the help of citizens and placed under the care of medical professionals.

“The bridge will be fully reopened.”

Due to the incident, drivers are currently experiencing delays of up to 45 minutes.

The East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
