Fatal pedestrian accident in Sayreville under investigation

Authorities in Middlesex County are investigating a tragic incident that occurred Friday evening in Sayreville, where a pedestrian was fatally injured on a busy roadway.

Police responded late last night to reports of a crash in the southbound lanes of US-9 near the Garden State Parkway.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified person lying on the ground after being hit by a car.

The victim’s death was confirmed at the crime scene.

An accident investigation team has been deployed to thoroughly investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal collision.

Local law enforcement is still investigating the incident and the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office has been notified. Investigators will release additional details as they work to determine the cause of the accident and identify the victim.
