Man charged after ‘on-field incident’ before Scotland vs Israel match

A man has been charged following an “on-field incident” before yesterday’s Scotland v Israel match at Hampden Park.

Police said a 24-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident on Friday, May 31, which occurred before kick-off.

A complaint will be filed against him with the public prosecutor.

We previously reported Before the match, which was played behind closed doors for fear of disruption, pro-Palestinian protesters were photographed outside the stadium.

Scotland beat Israel 4-1 after a 30-minute delay at 19:35 to boost their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2025.

Chief Superintendent Stevie Dolan said: “An appropriate police response was deployed at Hampden on Friday evening, May 31, and we worked with event organisers to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance and those in the surrounding area.”

“A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged following an incident on the pitch before kick-off. A complaint will be filed against him with the public prosecutor’s office.”
